Feb 5, 2016

80 officials, including heads of departments responsible for the use of the funds were dismissed last year, told Maxim Kolesnikov, the MoD Reforms Project Office officer, on the air of "Channel 5," informs Analytical News Service.

"About 80 people were dismissed on suspicion of corruption last year. Several heads of departments were replaced, including those who were responsible for the use of the funds," commented Mr. Kolesnikov.

He also said that corruption still exists in the Ministry of Defence and in the army as a whole.

"It exists - they stole, steal, and will steal as it is life. Our task is to decrease the scope. First and foremost this is the electronic procurement. We try make public who purchases, what is purchased, what was the price and further supply. These are electronic documents and electronic records, because when it's all on pieces of paper people loose and forget what was bought in which quantity," concluded Kolesnikov.
